The Cinque Terre is a rugged portion of coast on the Italian Riviera, more precisely located in the stretch of the Levante Liguria coast.
The five villages, as written in the name '' Cinque Terre '', are Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso. Since 1997, UNESCO he declared the Cinque Terre as a world heritage site, with the following motivation: "The eastern Ligurian coast of the Cinque Terre is an exceptionally valuable cultural landscape which represents the harmonious interaction between humans and the nature to achieve a landscape of outstanding quality, which manifests a millennial traditional way of life ... ". The Cinque Terre are considered one of the most fascinating Italian tourist destinations, worldwide, thanks to the geographic features. Over the centuries, people have carefully built terraces on the rugged, steep landscape right up to the cliffs that overlook the sea.
